Old dog, new tricks: Finding the courage to try new things

Karin BayoffDo you ever feel lost or as if something is missing in your life? I personally know this feeling all too well. Although I have an amazing partner, great kids, live in a beautiful home in an awesome community and run a business that I love….there are still days that everything – just – feels – flat. So many of us walk through life, feeling numb and desperate for a deeper connection, but aren’t sure how to get it.

– Let me tell you the secret –

We can’t think our way into our life’s passion and purpose, we have to do our way in. As kids we were constantly doing new things…..do you remember what that was like? The thrill of turning a perfect cartwheel or your first jump off the high diving board. We don’t grow from taking action we’ve always taken.Growth seems to require we take new action first, whether it’s adopting a new attitude or a new way of thinking, or literally taking new action. Trying something new often requires courage so be fearless.       –You will need to get out of your comfort zone –
It is normal to feel a bit uncomfortable when doing something for the first time so consider grabbing a friend or join a group to help motivate you.

The Best team ever!!!
The Best team ever!!!

Last year me and some of my besties from the Circuit (you amazing gals know who you are) tried a few SUP classes and completed a 9km obstacle course in Whistler. This year I will definitely be trying our local Kokanee Mountain zipline, indoor rock climbing at the Cube and maybe that crazy jet pack thing they have going on down at lakeside….yikes!

Passion + Daily Action = Purposeful Life

If you’re not sure what your passions are and you feel you may need help to discover them I have found an awesome program and an amazing coach (something else new for me) to help guide you through it.

‘Your Passion Plan’ is a comprehensive program designed to help you identify your top 5 passions and then take action toward living your unique life design. I have only just started working with Lisa – who also happens to be a member here at the Circuit – but I can already feel things shifting…..so excited for what is to come!

Consider that the real purpose of anyone’s life is to be fully involved in living. Try to be present for the journey and fully embrace it. Soon you will be oozing with passion, and you will feel so purposeful and fulfilled you will wonder how you lived life without it.

Committed to your health and wellness,
